Palenhyr is a large city located on a hillside near the Muroko River in the First World, home to a collection of Fey who follow deities other than the Eldest. The streets are lined with brightly colored tents, ornate stone shops, apartments, and dozens of churches. Due to the a powerful divine energy that flows through the city, Palenhyr is an attractive trade center and military stronghold.

Citizenry and Government

A council known as the Faithkeepers, chosen from the city’s largest sects, maintains some semblance of control while countless cults and faiths exist within the city limits. Churches and shrines ranging from gleaming temples to garbage-sculptures lay scattered throughout the city. Zealots fight for territory and converts within the city’s narrow alleys, though most residents do their best to ignore them.

Places of Interest

Bloodsands Arena

Bold fey of all sorts compete in blood sports both familiar and strange to entertain a bloodthirsty crowd. Since fey are effectively immortal, they take comfort knowing that the pain is temporary and their spirits will return in a new body. Criminals, even minor ones, are often sent to the Bloodsands Arena to fight to the death. Visitors from the Material Plane struggle to convince the council that death is permanent for them.

Frenzy Park

The city’s sewer system pulls up a half-mile short of the river and empties in an area known as Frenzy Park. The tunnels of this area form a labyrinth of stone-walled corridors open to the sky. The occasional choice delicacy that empties from the sewers often causes scavenger feeding frenzies from which the maze derives its name.

Sinmarket

In each of this market’s colorful tents entrepreneurs offer all sorts of forbidden indulgences, ranging from the sensual to the bizarre. Since the tents cater to all religions, some services can be of use to patrons of unrelated faiths, such as the Tent of Shared Secrets or the Tent of Unearned Second Chances.
